Hi! Thanks for visiting The Egg Farm.
My name is Mary, and I am the creative genius behind The Egg Farm. I live in the beautiful northern California foothills with my husband Michael and terrier Tucker. I am a former nurse, former hobby farmer, former vintage shop owner, and current food blogger.
I am checking items off my Bucket List. I never planned to have a Bucket List, but when I was given a life expectancy of 6-29 months, I decided I needed to make one. That was almost twenty years ago!
Back then, faced with my own mortality, I began thinking about all the things I had hoped to do when I retired. I always wanted to raise chickens like my grandmother. Soon, four chickens on a city lot, became 99 chickens, 2 donkeys, 4 fainting goats, and 4 emus on a five-acre hobby farm in the country. In 2009 I started blogging about cooking and hobby farming. Several years later, health issues forced us to re-home the animals and move into town.
Eventually I opened a small vintage shop, checking off another Bucket List item. I still dabble in all things vintage today, but find myself drawn more to food blogging.
I love to cook and create recipes and Michael and Tucker are my willing taste testers. My blog has no particular focus because really, why start that now? It’s an old-dog, new-trick kind of thing.
Because focusing on any one thing is not my style, I am starting the year 2020 with a plan to offer recipes suitable for people with pre-diabetes and Type II diabetes as well as recipes utilizing all those kitchen appliances we have shoved in the pantry. Look for Air-Fryer, Instant-Pot, and Slow-Cooker recipes. I might even bust out the old bread machine!
I hope you find something here that you like. Please know that the fact you are here makes my day. It checks a big-ticket-item off My Bucket List. I hope you visit The Egg Farm again. If I’m not here, it could mean that the doctor was correct, just off on his timing, or I have started blogging about crochet and kittens. Either way, my life has been blessed.
